LACHIT BORPHUKAN: The unsung hero of India

Lachit Borphukan was born on 1622 in Charaideo,Assam.
Fathers name: Momai tamuli Borborua.
He was educated in Humanities, Military tactics & Holy scriptures.
Before appointed in the post of Borphukan (Ahom army general), he worked in different officers post.
He was a patriot, clever diplomat & a Great military leader and he strengthed the Ahom army greatly.
Chakradhwaj singha Appointed him in the post "Borphukan".
Chakradhwaj singha also presented lachit with a gold hafted sword (Hengdang) to defeat mughals.
24th November,bornday of Lachit Borphukan ,is celebrated each year as Lachit Divas .
The best passing out cadet of 'National defence academy' (NDA) is conferred with the 'Lachit Borphukan gold medal' every year.

As we know, mughal captured Guwahati at 1662. Then with Lachit Borphukan's leadership,Ahom recaptured Guwahati at 1667.
He defended Ahom kingdom very well against the powerful Mughal army and pursued them to the Manas river in BATTLE OF SARAIGHAT at 1671.

Stories ,which shows Lachit Borphukan gave more importance to his country than anyone or anything else:

Lachit Borphukan's Maternal uncle hesitated to go on with his duty to complete a wall he was ordered to construct by Lachit for the defences. Frustrated by his uncle's lack of effort, Lachit had his uncle's head cut off saying that 'an uncle is not as important as the country' ('দেশতকৈ মোমাই ডাঙৰ নহয়').
On a battlefield, Lachit fell ill so badly, and was advised to not go out in the battlefield. but when he saw that his soldiers were retreating, then he come out and he said to the soldiers - "If you want to flee,flee. The king has given me a task here and i will do it well. Let the mughals take me away. You report to the king that his General fought well following his orders." And these words from Lachit, motivated all the soldiers and they gave their best in the battle and they won a Historic battle, 'Battle of Saraighat'.
